It was my kid sisters 19th birthday. Horses are something that have always had a place in her life. My mother’s pregnant tummy was even nipped by a filly I was working with at that time. She was horse bitten in the womb!
She spent most of her toddler years covered in bits of sawdust and hay, learning to walk down the breeze way of a stable. I thought it only fitting to incorporate horses and booze into some form of homemade gift for this milestone day.
I decided on a wine bottle holder and after a while of google searching I found the project I would take on.
All that was required was a used horse shoe, a large snaffle bit and the capability to weld. The first two would not be a problem to get. Welding on the other hand is not a skill I have used since my early high school days in metal art. But I happen to know just the guy to help.
My dad was more than happy to give me a hand putting this together and was even a good sport about me taking the opportunity to play with the camera. The whole project came together nicely. And I had fun successfully shooting some long exposure shots!
Happy Birthday Punkin! x
